If your medication isn’t listed here, follow the storage instructions that came with it, and ask your pharmacy if you’re not sure.
Zepbound KwikPen
Don’t freeze Zepbound, and don’t use it if it has been frozen.
Protect Zepbound from heat and light.
Store Zepbound in the original carton to protect it from light.
Before first use:
Store an unused KwikPen in the refrigerator at 36°F to 46°F (2°C to 8°C). It can be used until the expiration date (EXP) printed on the label if it has been kept in the refrigerator.
If an unused KwikPen is kept at room temperature, up to 86°F (30°C), throw it away after 30 days.
After first use:
Store the in-use KwikPen in the original carton, either in the refrigerator at 36°F to 46°F (2°C to 8°C) or at room temperature up to 86°F (30°C).
Throw the pen away after a total of 30 days at room temperature, 30 days after first use, or after taking 4 weekly doses, even if it still has medicine in it.
Don’t store the KwikPen with a needle attached. This prevents leaking, a blocked needle, and air getting into the pen. Put the pen cap back on after each injection, and don’t store the pen without it.
Keep your KwikPen and needles out of the sight and reach of children.
Zepbound vial
Don’t freeze Zepbound, and don’t use it if it has been frozen.
Protect Zepbound from heat and light.
Store the vial in the original carton to protect it from light.
Store all unopened vials in the refrigerator at 36°F to 46°F (2°C to 8°C). Before you use a vial, check its label to make sure it hasn’t expired.
If you need to, you can keep an unopened vial at room temperature, up to 86°F (30°C), for up to a total of 21 days. Throw the vial away after a total of 21 days at room temperature.
Once a vial has been kept at room temperature, don’t put it back in the refrigerator. Throw it away if you haven’t used it within 21 days of taking it out of the refrigerator.
Throw away the opened vial after use, even if there is medicine left in it.
Keep Zepbound vials, syringes, needles, and all medicines out of the reach of children.
Wegovy pen
Store the Wegovy single-dose pen in the refrigerator at 36°F to 46°F (2°C to 8°C).
Don’t store it in the freezer or directly beside the refrigerator cooling element. Don’t freeze Wegovy, and don’t use it if it has been frozen.
Keep the pen in the original carton to protect it from light.
Keep the pen cap on until you’re ready to inject. The pen won’t be sterile if it’s stored without the cap, if the cap has been pulled off and put back on, or if the cap is missing.
If you need to, before removing the pen cap, you can keep the pen at 46°F to 86°F (8°C to 30°C) in the original carton for up to 28 days.
Throw the pen away if it has been frozen, has been exposed to light or to temperatures above 86°F (30°C), has been out of the refrigerator for 28 days or longer, or after use.
Don’t drop the pen or knock it against hard surfaces, and don’t expose it to any liquids. Don’t use the pen if any part looks broken (for example, if it has been dropped) or if the expiration date (EXP) has passed.
Keep Wegovy and all medicines out of the reach of children.
Wegovy pill
Store Wegovy tablets at room temperature, 68°F to 77°F (20°C to 25°C).
Keep the tablets in the original closed Wegovy bottle until you’re ready to take one. Don’t store them in any other container.
Store them in a dry place, away from moisture.
Keep Wegovy and all medicines out of the reach of children.
Who to contact
If your medication has been frozen or has passed its room-temperature time limit, don’t use it. Ask your pharmacy about a replacement: the pharmacy handles damaged medication and replacements. If your medication has been warmer than the limit in its section above, or you’re not sure whether it’s still OK to use, ask your pharmacy before you use it.
If a replacement means you’ll miss a dose or need a new prescription, or for anything about how you feel on your medication, message your clinician through the chat on your Dashboard. Reply to the most recent message about your prescription.
In an emergency, call 911. If you’re having thoughts of harming yourself, call or text 988.
